An Electromagnetic Lock is a lock activated by providing an electric current to an internal coil that then is energized and thus magnetized only when the power is provided to the lock. The lock face is rectangular in shape which then ‘connects’ to an opposing steel plate, of similar proportions, when power is supplied and the lock is magnetized. The lock is used to secure doors and gates used to provide controlled access to buildings, offices, workshops etc. These locks are typically controlled through security systems, such as: keypads, key switches and card access systems. Some electromagnetic locks have LED closed or open visual indication as well as relay outputs providing door status to access control systems.
