A Gate Motor is a device used to open and close sliding and swing gates via remote control. Gate motors have an internal electric motor which is powered by either AC or DC current supplied by either 220VAC mains power or by 12 or 24VDC battery backup power supplies. The motor will be connected to a gearbox used to control the speed and action of the gate motor thus opening, closing or stopping the gate motor. Modern gate motors all have intelligent processor controlled boards which enable time and type control of the opening or closing action of the gate motor as well as providing safety features to ensure the general safety of users and the population. Gate motors are mostly controlled via remote hand-held radio frequency devices that relay a code to a fixed receiver within the gate motor to open, close or stop the gate motor.
